Although it’s only three miles between the closest gas stations, RaceTrac is adding another fuel option for drivers on the stretch of U.S. 301 North located between U.S. 41 and Interstate 75.

An application for a permit to build the convenience store and gas station at 3600 U.S. 301 N. was filed with Manatee County last week. The closest gas stations are a Shell to the west and a Pilot Travel Center to the east.

The 1.1-acre property is owned by the Whisenant Family Limited Partnership, according to Manatee County land records. The partnership is headed by Blake Whisenant, according to state corporate records, and lists one general partner, Whisenant Inc.

The land is home to a 3,300-square-foot former bank. A demolition permit has not yet been applied for, per permit records.

RaceTrac has six other locations in the Bradenton area, including one 2.5 miles away in Palmetto.
