Andrew Moulton, M.D., recently received the HCA Humanitarian First Award from Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. Dr. Moulton is a spine surgeon at Sarasota Orthopedic Associates. The award represents the compassion and spirit of its co-founder, Dr. Thomas Frist, and exemplifies Dr. Moulton’s dedication, care and compassion. Dr. Moulton travels several times a year to developing countries with his medical team to deliver spine care and life-altering surgeries for children. He co-founded the Butterfly Foundation and is committed to improve the lives of children with complex spinal deformities.
Jay Henderson has joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management as vice president/financial adviser. Prior to joining the company, Henderson was employed by UBS as a financial adviser. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine.
Shelley Thayer has been named 2017 president of the Florida Association of Animal Welfare Organizations. FAAWO is a state-wide coalition of animal welfare and protection agencies. Thayer is executive director at the Cat Depot in Sarasota. Before joining the Cat Depot, she worked at Best Friends Animal Society.
Bill Robertson received the AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a legal services rating organization, for the 14th consecutive year. The rating is the highest peer review rating in legal ability and ethical standards, and is based on anonymous evaluations by members of the state bar associations and the judiciary. Robertson is CEO and personal injury attorney at Kirk Pinkerton, P.A., in Sarasota.
Zulema Vega has been promoted to director of marketing and business development for Ellenton Premium Outlets, a Simon Premium Outlets center. Vega previously served as Simon’s Premium Outlets division’s director of marketing and business developments for St. Augustine Premium Outlets.
Barry Grooms and Sherry Grooms received the Florida Association of Realtors 2016 Florida Honor Society award. Barry Grooms and Sherry Grooms are realtors and co-owners of SaraBay Real Estate, Inc. Barry Grooms serves as treasurer for the Florida Realtor Association and is an 8-year recipient of the award. Sherry Grooms is a 10-year recipient of the award.
Nathan Souder has been selected as new superintendent of De Soto National Memorial in Bradenton. Souder has been the acting superintendent since March and for the past two years served as one of 10 Urban Fellows across the country charged with increasing relevancy and collaboration with the National Park Service. Souder holds a bachelor of science degree in public management from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
