Former Hyundai dealership sells to Texas developer for $2.2 million
A former Hyundai automotive dealership at the corner of 1st Street West and 26th Avenue East sold for $2.2 million in October.
Gettel Bradenton Inc. sold the dealership building and a small parcel of land to Cross Development CC Bradenton LLC for $2.2 million. The small parcel behind the dealership building measures less than a half-acre, according to Manatee County property records. The 29,800 square-foot dealership building was built in 1986.
Hyundai of Bradenton used to operate out of the 1st Street location. In 2010, Gettel purchased Hyundai of Bradenton and moved the dealership into a new 33,400-square-foot facility next door to Gettel Toyota of Lakewood, the Herald previously reported. Gettel Bradenton Inc. purchased the 1st Street property in September 2011 for $4.1 million.
Several other automotive dealerships are in close proximity to the former Hyundai dealership on 1st Street, including two Firkins Automotive locations and an Action Kawasaki Yahama showroom.
The Cross Development company is a subsidiary of Cross Development, a self-described “leading developer for single tenant commercial properties,” according to the Texas-based company’s website.
Cross Development also has offices in Cincinnati. The developer has completed projects for big-name brands like Subway, Starbucks Coffee, Kohl’s and Dollar General.
Representatives from Gettel Toyota and Cross Development could not be reached for comment.
Gettel Automotive Management Group moved its corporate headquarters from Gainesville to Bradenton and opened Gettel Toyota of Lakewood at 5959 State Road 64 E. with the help of $120,000 in Manatee County economic development incentives. Gettel created 122 jobs to fulfill the requirements of the incentives agreement.
Gettel has 11 stores – six in Bradenton-Sarasota, three in Ocala and two in Gainesville.
