Two kinds of dietary supplements for infants and children have been recalled
Bad ingredient packaging has led to two companies recalling infant and child dietary supplements distributed nationwide for a potential food allergy problem.
Neither Wellements Iron Drops nor UpSpring Baby Iron + Immunity, meant for infants and children under 3, is supposed to contain milk.
But each company’s FDA-posted recall notice says an ingredient was accidentally mixed with lactose and sent to the supplement makers without indication it contained milk. So, milk could be in the supplements as an undeclared allergen.
That’s a problem if the child being given these supplements has a milk allergy. And, Wellements’ recall notice says it knows of an allergic reaction.
That’s why Wellements is recalling lot No. 18491, best by 1/2021; lot No. 10592, best by 10/2020; and a sample lot, No. lot No. 10592, best by 10/2020. If you have these lots, return them to the store where they were bought for a full refund. Those with questions can call 800-255-2690, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Eastern time.
UpSpring’s recall concerns just lot No. 06691, expiration date march 2021. Those with questions can email info@upspringbaby.com or call 512-828- 7988, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Eastern time.
