Red tide keeps its grip on Anna Maria Island

Anna Maria Island

Red tide’s assault on Anna Maria Island continued Thursday.

As for most of the past week, there were reports of murky water, bad smells, dead fish and respiratory irritations. Lots of coughing, too.

Here is what it looked like:

Though each #redtide organism is very small in size, they can number in the billions to form a bloom. They can also produce toxins that are released into the air and water.
