A second Tim Hortons could be coming to the Bradenton area.

A new application has been filed with Manatee County’s Development Services to build a storefront for the famous Canadian coffee chain at 7935 State Road 64 E., just east of the Marketplace at Heritage Harbour, which features a Costco Wholesale store.

Construction plans call for a 1,611-square-foot building on the north side of State Road 64 East, according to building records. A Circle K convenience store and Aldi grocery store are nearby, according to property records.

The new application comes a few months after preliminary paperwork was filed with the county’s planning services portal for a Tim Hortons in Ellenton.

Opening dates for both of Manatee County’s planned Tim Hortons restaurants have not been publicly announced.

Tim Hortons last opened Florida locations in the 1980s, before closing them in the early 1990s, the Miami Herald previously reported. The Canadian staple is known for its coffee and donuts, including doughnut holes called Timbits.

Former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Tim Horton, who died in a car crash at age 44, opened the chain in 1964 with business partner Jim Charade in Hamilton, Ontario, according to The Canadian Encyclopedia.

3G Capital, under its Restaurant Brands International name, owns Tim Hortons. The parent company also owns Popeyes, Burger King and Firehouse Subs.

There are Tim Hortons locations in 15 states, including Georgia and Texas.
