Craft brewery and distillery will return to Manatee County with 2 restaurant locations
Mike and Sandy Krail are bringing the Good Liquid brand back to Manatee County.
The Krails have plans for two Good Liquid locations, each a combination distillery, brewery and restaurant. One of the Good Liquids is opening in Parrish and the other is in downtown Bradenton.
Good Liquid first opened a brewery at 4824 14th St. W., Bradenton, in 2017, but the location shutdown in 2022 and the brewery relocated to Lakewood Ranch
The opening of the Parrish location in the 8800 block of U.S. 301 in the Creekside Commons shopping center is about two months away, Mike Krail said this week.
The Parrish Good Liquid, on an out parcel along U.S. 301, will have seating for about 200 inside and about 50 under cover outside, Krail said. The Creekside Commons shopping center is anchored by Lowe’s, Aldi, Marshalls and HomeGoods.
Much of the work inside seemed complete this week, with the brewing vats in place and work underway in the kitchen.
New brewery in downtown Bradenton
Work on the Bradenton location will take a bit longer. Opening of the Bradenton location is about four months out, he said.
The Bradenton City Council approved plans for the Good Liquid at 1008 Fourth Ave. W., during a recent public meeting.
Good Liquid is going into the ground level of the former SunTrust Center, now called the NDC Center, taking over the drive-thru teller space and part of the parking garage.
Like the Parrish location, the Bradenton store will be a restaurant, distillery and brewery.
There will be seating for about 200 inside and about 100 outside, Krail said.
In its special use application with the City of Bradenton, The Good Liquid Brewing & Distilling Company defines its business model as “producing craft beer and spirits with the offering of modern American food. The taproom restaurant will only serve beer and spirits produced by Good Liquid Brewing and Distilling Company.”
Parking for the business will be within the parking garage adjacent to the NDC Center building.
Good Liquid’s proposed business hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
“Good Liquid is in the heart of downtown Bradenton adjacent to Main Street and the area’s best restaurants, bars and pubs. The hours of operation will be in keeping with the rest of the food and beverage operators in the surrounding area,” the application said.
“The Good Liquid will strive to complement the already burgeoning area. Good Liquid will be open for lunch and dinner and will cater to the business community. In addition, breweries and distilleries are a big draw with tourists,” the application said.
Good Liquid expands from Lakewood Ranch
In 2021, Good Liquid opened a brewery and restaurant in Lakewood Ranch at 1570 Lakefront Drive in Waterside Place.
In late 2023, the Krails opened Good Liquid Distilling Company, a small-batch craft distillery with a cocktail lounge, at Waterside Place 1561 Lakefront Drive, Suite 102. The two Lakewood Ranch locations are around the block from each other.
For its distillery operation, Good Liquid touts quality ingredients, expert technique and artisan craftsmanship to create handcrafted spirits “that will leave you wanting more.”
As a craft brewery, Good Liquid also has a wide selection of colorfully named beers, such as Waterside Blonde, Orange Wheat, Mixed Berry Jalapeno Cream Ale, On Vacay Juicy IPA, Blackberry Peach Sour and more.
There is something for just about everyone on the food menu, ranging from burgers and ribs to fish sandwiches, pizza, crab cake sandwiches, salads and more.
The Krails moved to the Bradenton area from South Carolina to be closer to the beach and take part in the growing craft beer movement.
Among their earlier creations were a Krispy Kreme stout, a peanut butter and Cap’n Crunch beer and a chocolate cake beer.
All told, Mike Krail estimated in 2017 that he had brewed more than 80 different beers by the time his two-year tenure with Legal Remedy Brewing in South Carolina ended.
Good Liquid has a production facility in Benderson Development’s Florida International Tradeport in Ellenton, near the intersection of Interstate 75 and U.S. 301.
