Need weekend plans? Catch up on some classic movies at theaters around Bradenton

Movie theaters were allowed to reopen at 50 percent capacity on June 5 as part of the second phase of Florida’s reopening.

Some theater chains, including Regal and AMC, have opted not to come back just yet.

But several local operations are inviting theatergoers back with screenings of classics and fan favorites.

Here’s a preview of what is playing around Bradenton this weekend.

Lakewood Ranch Cinemas—June 12 to June 18

The non-profit Sarasota Film Society, which operates two local theaters, has a slate of classics lined up for this weekend at its Lakewood Ranch location. The selection includes a screening of all eight Harry Potter films.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: 1:20 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. Friday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday; 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Monday and Wednesday.

Major League: 4:20 p.m. Friday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. 1:20 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Monday and Wednesday.

Minions: 3:20 p.m. and 6 p.m. daily.

American Sniper: 6:20 p.m. daily.

Sing: 12:40 p.m. daily.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial: Noon daily.

Jaws: 3 p.m. daily.
