Chris Tucker and D.L. Hughley bring their stand-up to Tampa

Two of the funniest guys in America are coming to Tampa.

Chris Tucker and D.L. Hughley, both of whom have kept doing stand-up even while they were establishing themselves as comic actors, will be at Amalie Arena Sept. 8.

Tucker is best known for playing the role of Det. James Carter in the “Rush Hour” film series. He also appeared in “Friday” with Ice Cube, “The Fifth Element” with Bruce Willis and “Silver Linings Playbook” with Robert DeNiro. But before he became a film star he was a favorite on Russell Simmons’ “Def Comedy Jam” on HBO in the 1990s.

Hughley starred in the sitcom “The Hughleys” in the early ]90s and currently has his own show nationally syndicated radio show. He authored the best-selling satirical book “Black Man, White House: An Oral History of the Obama Years,” and even hosted a show on CNN. But he has always considered himself primarily a stand-up comedian, and is currently touring as part of the “Comedy Get Down Tour,” which also features Cedric the Entertainer, George Lopez and Eddie Griffin.

Tickets for the Tampa show are $41.75 and $61.75 plus service charge. They go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Call 800-745-3000 or go to ticketmaster.com.
