Lakewood Ranch man dies after being shot during argument with his wife, sheriff’s office says
A 58-year-old man is dead after being shot during an argument with his wife in a Lakewood Ranch home on Sunday evening, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim and his wife, 30 years his junior, were home alone at the time of the shooting, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Randy Warren. She is being considered a suspect but the sheriff’s office has refused to release her name or that of her husband, the victim.
The victim, who was shot twice, was taken to a local hospital where he died shortly after.
“Detectives still have questions about what occurred leading up to shots being fired, and will investigate further before more information is released,” Warren told the Bradenton Herald.
Just before 7 p.m., deputies were called to the home in the 11300 block of White Rock Terrace, in the Central Lake subdivision.
This is not the first time the gated community has been the scene to a fatal shooting during a domestic dispute.
Wednesday marked the two-year anniversary of when James “Jim” Bennett shot his wife, Silvana “Silvi” Bennett, his step-daughter, Andrea Barberena-Rojas, and then killed himself after getting into a heated argument in their home.
The couple had been celebrating their 3-year-old daughter’s birthday earlier that day. The younger girl and her paternal grandmother had been in the home at the time of the shooting but were not injured.
