Charity poker and golf tournament this weekend
A two-day fundraising weekend is set for Friday and Saturday for golf and poker enthusiasts.
The Mark Wandall Foundation golf tournament is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Legacy Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch. Registration is $175 per golfer and can be purchased in advance at the foundation’s website, themarkwandallfoundation.org/memorial-weekend-2017/.
The tournament is a scramble format. Station 400 will provide breakfast, while other sponsors provide food and drink during the round. Longhorn Steakhouse will provide the post-round awards dinner.
To kick off the weekend event, a poker tournament will be held Friday at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing in Sarasota at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. The buy-in is $150 and the entry fee includes a free entry to the Kick-Off Celebration.
For those interested in playing both golf and poker, the foundation offers a $300 discounted price.
The fundraising weekend is in memory of Mark Wandall, who was killed by a red-light runner in 2003. Mark’s wife, Melissa, gave birth to their only child, Madisyn Grace, just 19 days after his death. Melissa established the foundation to provide support for children and teens who, like Madisyn, have suffered a loss.
