What if...
Our presidential election was fixed by the Russians?
Consider why the National Security Agency decided to keep secret which states’ voter rolls and voting software was hacked? Did Reality Winner (her real name!) discover the tip of an iceberg that the NSA and even the intelligence committees of the House and the Senate dare not breach? Why is it that the NSA is classifying what states, software and voter rolls the Russians were “attempting” to hack? Why does the Trump administration show such disinterest in Russian hacking?
There is no provision in our Constitution to accommodate a foreign power fixing our presidential election. If that were to come to light, it would precipitate utter and total mayhem within our political system. Should we impeach Trump and have his VP become president? Or, as absurd as it may seem, should we posthumously reverse the apparent results to reflect what actually happened and have Clinton become president? There is no guidance in our Constitution. It is ironic that Trump’s campaign, routed in conspiracy, must deal with this conspiracies theory.
The reckoning for Trump voters lies with those who would have welcomed Russian interference to help Trump get elected. They would prefer that to a fair election. How many of us fall into that camp and accept Trump pandering to us? Have we have become slaves of Russia, the master of mass enslavement for centuries? Are we capable of accepting the truth?
What is worse? Trump openly asking for Russian intervention in our election? Remember him asking, “Please hack her emails?” Or several members of his family and entourage being financially beholden to Putin’s fate?
We must demand truth from the NSA and decide whether to support those who hold greater loyalty to their party than to the United States. Rep. Vern Buchanan comes to mind.
