Women charged with beating up McDonald’s employee clowns around in mugshots
Officers with the Bellevue Police Department in Ohio don’t tell suspects to say cheese in their booking shot, but they aren’t going to stop you from smiling either.
That was the case for three women charged with assaulting a McDonald’s employee on June 8. Two of the three decided to smile in their mugshots, and the prosecutor on the case said that was their choice.
“To me as a prosecutor, that tells me a lot about a person and how they view the justice system,” said David Claus, municipal prosecutor. “It helps me evaluate how contrite or not contrite you are about the position you’re in.”
The three women allegedly waited for the McDonald’s employee in the parking lot before beating her up. The women were angry with the employee for “working too slowly when dealing with three women and their family,” according to the police department Facebook page.
Two of the three women’s minor children also participated in the assault. The children are being charged in juvenile court, according to Claus.
Ashley England, Mary Jordan and Sammie Whaley were arrested the following day. England was charged with assault, theft and child endangerment, Jordan was charged with assault and child endangerment, and Whaley was charged with assault.
The casual-looking mugshots are not a first for the police department. Brandy Bean, a woman arrested on charges of burglary, forgery and theft in May 2015, decided to stick out her tongue for her booking photo.
“If they decide to act that way in their booking photos, that’s up to them,” Claus said.
