2 arrested after Manatee deputies find heroin, marijuana in their car

MANATEE -- Two men, including one wanted on warrants for selling drugs and another scheduled to stand trial in June on drug-dealing charges, were arrested Friday afternoon after deputies found heroin and marijuana in a car the suspects were riding in, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 2:30 p.m., deputies with the sheriff's Special Investigations Division made a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Dontay Henderson, 21, according to a release.

Henderson was immediately arrested after deputies learned he was wanted on six warrants charging him with sale of a controlled substance, the sheriff's office.

During a search of the car, deputies found 21.6 grams of heroin in two different spots in the car, as well as 1.8 grams of marijuana.

Also arrested was one of two passengers in the car, Robert Cadet, 22, the sheriff's office said. He faces charges of trafficking in heroin and possession of marijuana, according to the report.

In addition to the six previous warrants, Henderson also faces charges of possession of heroin with intent to sell and driving without a license.

A second passenger in the car was not arrested.

Bond information on the new charges was not available on the sheriff's website.

Court records show Cadet is scheduled to stand trial in June on charges selling heroin and driving with a suspended license. He was arrested in March 2014 after he sold heroin to undercover deputies on numerous occasions, according to court documents.

Henderson has been arrested before on charges of aggravated battery and armed robbery, but those charges were eventually dropped, according to court records.
