Lakewood Ranch man, 30, accidentally shoots self in leg

A 30-year-old Lakewood Ranch man was the victim of an accidental shooting at 11:51 a.m. Saturday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim and a friend were shooting targets at the Logue Road Gun Range, 1805 Logue Road, Myakka. As the victim was walking with the firearm carried in a sling on his shoulder, it accidentally discharged.

The rounds struck the victim in the left calf. The victim was taken to a local hospital for nonlife-threatening injury.

No charges were filed.
