1 arrest made, 2 guns seized after Bradenton police officers hear gunshots near City Yard

BRADENTON -- Police seized two weapons after officers heard multiple gunshots in the 1200 block of Fifth Street West, near the City Yard in Bradenton, according to police.

Just after midnight Friday, officers heard the shots. While checking the area, they saw several people in the yard of a residence in the 500 block of 13th Avenue West, according to a report.

As officers approached, the people ran into the residence, but officers did see in plain view an "assault-style pistol" in a nearby vehicle.

"The owner of the gun exited the house and admitted that he had just fired the weapon," the report states.

The person, whose name was not included in the report, was charged with illegal discharge of a weapon, police said.

A second handgun located on the hood of a second nearby vehicle also was seized, police said.
