Manatee sheriff: Sarasota man charged with stealing toys from Walmart

MANATEE -- A Sarasota man has been charged with stealing toys from Walmart, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Zachary Talkovic, 31, was arrested at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday at Walmart, 2911 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton. According to a loss prevention officer at the store, Talkovic was seen on surveillance video stuffing a backpack with $84 worth toys and then proceeding to the self-checkout register.

Deputies said Talkovic made no attempt to pay for the toys and passed all points of sale before being approached by the loss prevention officer.

Once placed in a patrol car, deputies reported Talkovic said: “I wasn’t thinking, I just put the stuff in a backpack and slid it through.”

Talkovic was charged with shoplifting. He was released Christmas Eve from Manatee County jail on $120 bond, according to the sheriff’s office website.
