Gunman robs Tampa casino

An armed man took off with an unknown amount of money from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino early Friday morning, according to reports.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida’s police department is investigating the robbery that occurred around 2 a.m., according to WFLA News Channel 8. Police said a man went into the poker room armed with a handgun and took money from the cashier. Officials are reviewing surveillance video.

The man ran off, going south on Orient Road south of Interstate 4, according to WFLA. Police described the man they are looking for as standing about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweater with gray sleeves and black sweat pants.

ABC Action News reports the man may be in his mid to late 20s. Police have not said how much money the man took from the poker room.

Officials with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the search.

No shots were fired and there were no injuries, according to WFLA.
