Community conversation between Sarasota County Branch NAACP’s and law enforcement postponed
A community conversation by the Sarasota County Branch NAACP scheduled for Wednesday evening has been postponed. Sarasota Police Chief Bernadette DiPino and other law enforcement officers were scheduled to take part in the event organized in response to the police killings of black men Philando Castile and Alton Sterling and the killing of five Dallas police officers during a peaceful protest.
The fatal shootings occurred over a span of three days last week.
According to Sarasota police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge, the event at Bethel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Sarasota was postponed “due to logistics.” It has not been rescheduled.
