The Center of Anna Maria Island and the University of South Florida system are canceling its events and classes Monday due to Tropical Storm Colin.
“Based on the condition of roads in and around Anna Maria Island - as well as the continued heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Colin - The Center will be closing at 3 p.m. today,” read an email from the community center’s staff. The events canceled at the Center of Anna Maria Island include baseball evaluations, soccer games, and karate programs.
USF announced that classes are cancelled at all campuses -Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee; starting at 3:00 p.m. through the end of Monday.
“Non-essential employees should coordinate with their supervisor to leave campus by 3:00 p.m.,” the email read.

USF officials said campuses will be open and classes will resume as scheduled Tuesday. Check usf.edu for any new developments. USF Health patients with scheduled appointments can monitor health.usf.edu regarding clinical operations.
According to the community center, baseball evaluations are rescheduled as follows: Saturday (5-7 age group, 10 a.m.; 8-10 age group, 10:45 a.m.; and 11-13 age group, 11:30 a.m.). Soccer games are rescheduled as follows: Monday (6-7 age group at 6 p.m.); Signarama vs Progressive Cabinetry (Field 1); and Truly Nolen vs. Pink and Navy (Field 2); and 8-10 Championship at 7 p.m.; The Feast vs. Blue Lagoon Landscaping.
Karate will resume Thursday evening at normal scheduled times, according to the release.
