No foul play suspected after man’s body found near mangroves

A death investigation is underway after a man’s body was found near some mangroves on Bradenton Beach, according to police.

At 5:09 p.m. Monday, the Bradenton Beach Police Department was called out after a man’s body was found in the 400 block of Bay Drive, according to Detective Sgt. Lenard Diaz.

“Some ladies were walking by and saw the legs of the decedent floating near the mangroves,” Diaz said. “I do not expect any foul play.”

The victim’s identity has not yet been released as police work to notify his next of kin. The man’s body had no signs of traumatic injuries. Police had been looking for the victim on Sunday night.

“We got a call from a girlfriend of his with some concern about him,” Diaz said.

The investigation is ongoing.
