A 62-year-old Pennsylvania man may have had a medical episode that led to a crash into a Siesta Key restaurant on the Fourth of July, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, the Pennsylvania man was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram north on Ocean Boulevard at the intersection with Canal Road on Siesta Key when he apparently suffered a medical episode, according to a news release. The Dodge Ram ran off the road and into the Lobster Pot restaurant, 5157 Ocean Blvd.

The Lobster Pot was closed at the time, and there was no one was inside, according to FHP spokesman Greg Bueno.

The driver reportedly suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sarasota Memorial hospital to be treated. Debris from the crash hit a 2007 Lexus I5 that was parked north of the Lobster Pot, according to FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.
