Man in critical condition after near drowning off Anna Maria Island, sheriff says
A 25-year-old man nearly drowned off the shores of Anna Maria Island on Thursday afternoon, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies responded to a near drowning on the beach near the Sandbar Restaurant at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office.
The man was pulled from the water by witnesses, who performed CPR until deputies and Marine Rescue crews arrived.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The incident appears to be accidental, according to the sheriff’s office.
