Tennis players with Bradenton ties shine at Vitale’s Clay Court Classic
Two Bradenton-based athletes were among the top performers over the weekend at the annual Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic at the Lakewood Ranch Tennis Center.
In the men’s singles final, Andres Andrade of the University of Florida and a 2017 graduate of IMG Academy in Bradenton, defeated Michigan’s Siimar.
Josie Kuhlman of the defending national champion Florida Gators beat Monica Mathias of UCF in the woman’s singles final. Matias and UCF teammate Natalia Serrano won the women’s doubles competition.

The annual tournament raises money for the V Foundation for Cancer Research and has raised more than $400,000 since its inception seven years ago, Vitale said.
