Tim Tebow will speak at Bayside Community

EAST MANATEE -- Tim Tebow, former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback for the University of Florida and most recently in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles, will speak at multiple Bayside Community Church services the first weekend in March.

Tebow will speak at weekend services at 15800 State Road 64 East in Bradenton at 5 p.m. March 5 and 9:15 and 11:15 a.m. and 5 p.m. March 6.

"We're excited to welcome Tim Tebow to Bayside," a post on the church Facebook page reads. "No ticket needed but plan to arrive early. We expect a packed house at all of our campuses."

Tebow, who has received attention for his public displays of Christianity on and off the field, also spoke at Bayside last May for an Evening of Hope, which raised about $70,000 for the Salvation Army.

SCF Foundation presents Avenues des Artistes

BRADENTON -- State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota Foundation, will present Avenues des Artistes from 6-10 p.m. Saturday at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.

The campus courtyard will be transformed into international street festivals representing Madrid, Florence and London.

Avenues des Artistes is an evening of food and artistry showcasing the talents of SCF art, theater and music students, faculty and staff. Guests will step into brightly colored street fairs as they enjoy signature cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and desserts while being entertained by SCF student street musicians.

Individual tickets are $150. Proceeds benefit SCF Foundation scholarship programs. Gourmet dinner by Mattison's served at 8 p.m. followed by dancing under the stars with the SCF Jazz Band.
