Hometown Heroes | Palmetto grad Jarrid Rhodes looking to continue scoring streak
When Jarrid Rhodes returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, the Palmetto High alum will look to continue an impressive scoring streak.
The combo guard/forward for Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa, a junior college program, has netted double figures in seven consecutive games this season.
Rhodes last failed to reach a double-digit scoring game on Nov. 14. Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa is returns to action Wednesday after the winter break layoff when it faces Missouri State-West Plains. The last time Rhodes, a sophomore, battled Missouri State-West Plains, he poured in 19 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting night from the floor.
DOMINIQUE RODGERS-CROMARTIE -- The New York Giants cornerback's season concluded Sunday with a 6-10 campaign. DRC, a Lakewood Ranch alum, squared off against one of his old teams, the Philadelphia Eagles, but came away with a season-ending loss to polish off the Giants' third consecutive losing season. The Eagles edged the G-Men, 35-30. DRC notched a career-high 52 solo tackles during the season. He also recorded three interceptions for the sixth time in his eight NFL seasons, while scoring his sixth career touchdown.
BRIAN POOLE -- Like DRC, another county cornerback had his season end on a low note. A Southeast alum, Poole's career at the University of Florida ended in a 41-7 drubbing by Michigan in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl last Friday. Poole finished with four tackles (three solo) on a defensive unit that allowed 503 total yards of offense to the Wolverines.
SATNAM SINGH -- The first Indian-born basketball player drafted in the NBA, Singh hasn't gotten much playing time this season. Playing for the Texas Legends, the NBA D-League team associated with the Dallas Mavericks, Singh has logged just 32 minutes in five games that has produced a whopping six points.
The IMG Academy alum's last appearance came at the end of December against the Erie Bayhawks, when he scored his first bucket since his D-League debut in mid-November.
