Palmetto's Goetzman playing for Rays' Double-A team

Former Palmetto High baseball star Granden Goetzman is starting his 2016 season for the Tampa Bay Rays' organization in Double-A.

Goetzman, an outfielder, received some playing time with the Rays during spring training and collected a base hit off Pirates opening day starter Francisco Liriano late last month at McKechnie Field in Bradenton in front of family and friends.

The Rays announced their minor league rosters Tuesday, with Goetzman listed on the Double-A club in Montgomery, Ala.
