Pittsburgh Pirates | Five questions with Brad Lincoln
Q: What made you want to come back to the Pirates as a free agent this offseason?
A: “The teammates. Guys that I played with coming up through the minors and to the major league level, seeing what they’ve done in the past couple years should make anybody wanna come and be a part of that. It wasn’t really a hard choice for me based on the past with my teammates.”
Q: How do you typically entertain yourself away from the field during spring training?
A: “I do some fishing, stuff like that, just to get your mind off the game a little bit. It can be hard at times, but for me it’s just relaxing and not worrying too much about what’s going on here and to make the best out of everything. Fishing, kayaking, that kind of thing. It’s a great place to do a lot of recreational activities and get out and enjoy things.”
Q: Do you have any teammates that you usually do that kind of stuff with?
A: “There are some guys on the team that enjoy it. A.J. (Burnett) likes to get out there and catch a few, but me and my wife do a lot of things together too, so it gives us time to bond a little bit.”
Q: You live in Houston during the offseason. How often is your wife with you during the spring and regular season?
A: “She’s here for the whole spring and the whole year.”
Q: She into the outdoorsy stuff, too?
“A little bit. Not as much, but during the offseason I like to do a lot of hunting and stuff like that, so we’ve kind of grown together doing that thing. “I’ve kind of trained her a little bit into doing that, but she’s getting the hang of it.”
