Marauders sweep doubleheader against Stone Crabs in Charlotte
Marauders 11-6, Stone Crabs 2-0
The Marauders outscored the host Stone Crabs 17-2 over 14 innings of a doubleheader on Saturday at Charlotte Sports Park.
Michael Suchy was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in the opening game. Suchy has seven homers on the season. The Marauders blew the game open with a seven-run fifth inning, highlighted by Justin Maffei’s first homer, a grand slam.
Marauders pitcher Stephen Tarpley improved to 6-3, allowing two runs on two hits in six innings. Tarpley did not allow a hit until the fifth.
In the nightcap, the Marauders scored all six of their runs in the first three innings. They batted around in the second inning, capped by Jerrick Suiter’s two-run single. Suiter was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Pitcher Buddy Borden had his best outing of the season, tossing five scoreless innings and striking out seven.
