Bradenton Marauders drop series finale to Cleawater Threshers, 5-2

The long ball torched the Marauders, who dropped Wednesday’s series finale 5-2 to the Clearwater Threshers before 1,218 fans at McKechie Field.

The Threshers got off to a quick start with a couple of bases-loaded walks in the top of the first to make it 2-0. Jiandido Tromp hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth to make it 3-0.

The Marauders got solo home runs from Tito Polo and Jerrick Suiter in the sixth to cut the deficit to 3-2. But Tromp struck again with another solo homer in the eighth to make it 4-2.

Kyle Martin added a home run in the ninth to give the Threshers a 5-2 lead, the third homer of the game for Clearwater. Marauders starter J.T. Brubaker recorded only two outs in the first inning.

Up next: The Marauders begin a four-game series with the visiting Daytona Tortugas on Thursday. Yeudy Garcia (1-3, 4.93 ERA) gets the ball for the Marauders. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
