Cardinals pound Marauders

The Palm Beach Cardinals cracked 12 hits Wednesday as they won the second game of their series against the Bradenton Marauders, 7-3.

Oscar Mercado led Palm Beaching, going 3 for 3 with three RBIs, two runs and an HBP.

Jerrick Suiter (1-for-4, home run) hit a solo home run in the bottom half of the second inning for Bradenton to make it 2-1.

In the top of the fourth, the Cardinals took a 5-1 lead. Bradenton’s Michael Suchy blooped an RBI single to center in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Stephen Tarpley (1-1) went the first four innings for Bradenton, surrendering eight hits, five runs (all earned), a walk, and four strikeouts..

Up next: The Marauders wrap up their series with the Cardinals on Thursday. Colten Brewer (2-6, 4.36 ERA) starts for the Marauders. Austin Gomber (4-3, 2.47) pitches for the Cardinals. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
