Bradenton 5, St. Lucie 2
The Marauders spotted St. Lucie a two-run lead in the first inning before storming back to claim a 5-2 victory and a sweep of the four-game series at McKechnie Field in Florida State League action Sunday.
Taylor Gushue gave the Marauders a 3-2 lead with a two-run homer in the fourth. Jordan Luplow tacked on an insurance run with a homer in the eighth.
Justin Masterson and Yeudy Garcia combined for 14 strikeouts. Masterson allowed two hits over five innings. Garcia earned his first save with four innings of relief work.
Up next: Bradenton’s Alex McRae (2-3, 2.45) squares off against Matt Pearce (5-1, 1.97) on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game set at home against Palm Beach. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
