Rained-out Bradenton Marauders’ Ramirez earns FSL honor

BRADENTON — The Bradenton Marauders, who were rained out Monday night, announced that outfielder Harold Ramirez was named the Florida State League Player of the Week for the week of July 20-26. Ramirez has hit .450 since returning from the Pan-Am Games, where he anchored the middle of the order for his native Colombia.

Ramirez, 20, played in five games and had nine hits in 20 at-bats. He homered twice while producing three multi-hit games and three-multi-RBI games. He scored seven runs and was successful in all three of his stolen base attempts. A native of Cartagena, Colombia, Ramirez is in his third season of professional baseball. He is batting .367 this season with three home runs and 32 RBIs. He has hit safely in 34 of 42 games.

Monday’s game in Clearwater between the Marauders and Threshers will be made up as a doubleheader at McKechnie Field and consist of two seven-inning games on Tuesday. Game 1 starts at 5 p.m. Game 2 will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The Marauders will be the home team for both games.
