Bradenton Marauders game postponed by unplayable field
It was sunny for most of the day Thursday, but the Bradenton Marauders and Charlotte Stone Crabs couldn’t get the second half of the Florida State League season under way at McKechnie Field.
Unplayable field conditions caused by heavy rains Wednesday and Thursday postponed the game.
“I don’t think it rained anywhere else in Bradenton except over McKechnie Field,” said Trevor Gooby, the Pittsburgh Pirates’ director of Florida operations.
The Marauders and Stone Crabs will play a twin bill starting at 5 p.m. Friday at McKechnie Field. Tampa Bay Rays starter David Price will make a rehab start for the Stone Crabs. He is expected to start the first game of the doubleheader.
