Marauders drop tough 2-1 game to Cardinals

Stephen Alemais grounded out with the bases loaded to end the game as the Bradenton Marauders dropped 2-1 to the Palm Beach Cardinals on Friday night.

Dailyn Martinez got Stephen Alemais to ground out with the bases loaded to end the game, leading the Palm Beach Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Bradenton Marauders on Friday.

Palm Beach starter Jake Woodford (7-6) picked up the win after he allowed one run and four hits over eight innings. He also struck out five and walked two. Dailyn Martinez earned the save.

After seven scoreless innings, Bradenton got on the board in the top of the eighth when Alfredo Reyes hit an RBI single, bringing home Casey Hughston. Palm Beach answered in the bottom of the frame, scoring two runs to take the lead for good.

Hughston and Ke’Bryan Hayes each had two hits for the Marauders.
