Hill’s 3 RBI night powers Marauders past Threshers

Logan Hill homered and had three hits, driving in three as the Bradenton Marauders defeated the Clearwater Threshers 5-2 on Tuesday in Florida State League play.

Clearwater (37-32) struck first when Herlis Rodriguez singled in Mark Laird in the first inning. However, the rest of the game belonged to Bradenton (37-29).

After tying the game in the second, the Marauders took the lead for good in the fourth inning when Kevin Krause hit a solo home run.

Hill hit a two-run double in the fifth, and Ke’Bryan Hayes hit an RBI single in the ninth.

Clearwater missed a scoring opportunity in the seventh, when Jose Pujols grounded out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Bradenton right-hander Gage Hinsz (3-5) allowed one run on seven hits over six innings. Opposing starter Jose Taveras (5-3) took the loss, allowing four runs and seven hits over 4 1/3 innings. Seth McGarry gave up one run in two innings and recorded his sixth save.

Laird doubled and singled twice, scoring two runs for the Threshers. Rodriguez doubled and singled twice.

Despite the loss, Clearwater is 4-2 against Bradenton this season.
