Marauders lose both ends of doubleheader to Yankees
Brody Koerner tossed a six-hit complete game, leading the Tampa Yankees to a 5-1 win over the Bradenton Marauders in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Koerner (2-1) picked up the win after he struck out four and walked one while allowing one run.
Tampa started the scoring in the first inning when Nick Solak hit a two-run double. After Tampa added a run in the fourth when Jeff Hendrix scored on a wild pitch, the Marauders cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Jordan George hit a solo home run.
The Yankees later tacked on two runs in the seventh when Tito Polo and Trey Amburgey hit RBI singles to secure the victory.
Taylor Hearn (4-5) went four innings, allowing three runs and three hits in the Florida State League game. He also struck out five and walked four.
The Yankees swept both games of the doubleheader after winning the first game 11-1. Tampa improved to 6-1 against Bradenton this season.
