Live updates: 2024 Manatee County high school football scores in Week 2
One of the county’s top rivalries renews Friday.
Southeast travels to play longtime rival Manatee. The two first played each other in 1974. The rivalry heated up in 1985 when the Seminoles notched their first victory over Manatee.
The tradition-rich programs have featured future college football and NFL stars throughout the decades.
And it appeared the rivalry was over when the series went on hiatus in 2017. After a three-year break, the two sides played each other in 2020, where the Seminoles knocked off an undefeated Hurricanes team 25-24. It was Southeast’s first win in the series since 2006.
Manatee has won the last two meetings by a combined score of 58-0.
Last week, Southeast and Manatee started its 2024 campaigns with victories. The two aren’t the only ones in action under the Friday Night Lights.
Parrish Community travels to Bayshore in an all-county showdown, while Braden River, Lakewood Ranch and Palmetto are in action.
