High school football Week 5 preview: Palmetto
Palmetto (3-1) at Bayshore (0-2)
When: 7:30 p.m.
The scoop: The Tigers’ defense has been arguably the best in Manatee County, making up for their offensive deficiencies on the way to a good start. In four games, Palmetto has recorded 21 sacks and 11 takeaways. ... The only thing missing is a shutout, and the Bruins are the only team in the county yet to score this season. ... The Tigers have an opportunity to get on track offensively at Balvanz Stadium. So far this season they’ve scored half as many defensive touchdowns (3) as offensive (6). Running back Elijah Davis has been a bright spot with 226 rushing yards while averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
Prediction: Palmetto 24, Bayshore 0
