Lakewood Ranch falls in regional basketball playoffs

The season for the Lakewood Ranch boys basketball team, which had been hoping for a return to the state title game, came to an Thursday.

The No. 6 Mustangs fell 54-31 to No. 3 Wharton in a Class 7A-Region 2 quarterfinal game.

Lakewood Ranch, which lost in the state championship game last year, finish their season with a record of 18-8.
