Manatee edges Southeast in tennis

Jimmy Heagerty and Payne Moore won the No. 1 doubles match 8-6 to earn the decisive point in Manatee's 4-3 victory against Southeast (2-3).

Heagerty and Moore also won their singles matches for Manatee (2-2), which returns to action Tuesday at Palmetto. Tristan Hall earned Manatee's other point at No. 3 singles.

Shorecrest 6, Saint Stephen's 1 -- Noah Van Dyke defeated Chase Rutan 4-6, 7-5, 12-10 (tiebreaker) at No. 4 singles to earn the lone point for Saint Stephen's

Girls tennis

Manatee 6, Southeast 1 -- Grayson Hall and Perri Howard did not drop a game in their matches to lead Manatee (2-1). Ruby Halfacre earned the lone point for Southeast (3-3).

Saint Stephen's 5, Shorecrest 2 -- Annie Brey, Sabina Budova and Alysia Serterides won their matches at Nos. 1, 2 and 4 singles to lead the Falcons.

Baseball

Out-of-Door Academy 10, Shorecrest Prep 0 -- Max Munroe struck out four and scattered two hits en route to the complete-game effort in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule. Anthony Squitieri, Austin Brinling and Parke Phillips had two hits each for ODA (6-0, 5-0).

Softball

Lakewood Ranch 3, Manatee 0 -- Logan Newton tossed a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts to earn the win for the host Mustangs (7-1, 2-0). Kinsey Goelz laid down a successful suicide squeeze that turned into a single in the first. She also drew two walks and scored twice.

Southeast 10, Bradenton Christian 0 -- Rebecca Boesen earned the win and struck out 16 en route to a six-inning one-hitter for visiting Southeast. Alyssa Kesler broke up the no-hitter in the bottom of the sixth. Ivy Turner led Southeast (5-1) at the plate, going 4 for 4.

JUCO baseball

Pasco-Hernando 8, SCF 6 -- Ethan Skender hit two solo home runs, but it wasn't enough as host Pasco-Hernando State College scored three unearned runs against reliever Hunter McGarry in the eighth to earn the win in New Port Richey. Kevin Buckley finished 2 for 4 with an RBI double for SCF (10-3), which returns to action Friday at Tallahassee Community College 6 p.m.

JUCO Softball

SCF 4-9, Pasco Hernando 0-2 -- In the first game, winning pitcher Jessica Reid (5-2) threw a one-hitter in the 4-0 shutout. She had hitting help from Erica Ward, who went 3 for 4, and Brandy Bunker, who went 1 for 2 in New Port Richey.

The Manatees (9-4) routed the Quistas in the second game 9-2. Kassidy Neptune went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs. Jessica Harney finished 2 for 3 with a 2-run homer.

Kayla Maxwell (4-1) earned the win for the Manatees, who return to action Sunday at Miami-Dade Community College
