Local roundup | Southeast's Boesen tosses no-hitter
Southeast High School's Rebecca Boesen struck out 15 of the 23 batters she faced en route to a no-hitter and a 4-0 softball victory against visiting Sarasota Christian. Boesen walked three and added two hits.
Shaylene Holt collected three hits for Southeast (1-1) while Yami Regalado and Ivy Turner doubled. The Seminoles return to action at home Monday at 6 p.m. against Sarasota Christian.
Wrestling
Logan Kushner Duals -- Lakewood Ranch wrestlers Dylan Cameron (132 pounds) and Timmy Dwyer (138) went 5-0 on the first day of the two-day event at Palm Harbor. Jake Seaman (106), Hunter Reed (120), Ryan Brown (145) and Chase Sharp (195) went 4-0. Each wrestler will have nine matches by the end of the tournament on Saturday.
JUCO baseball
SCF 16, Inspiration Academy 3 -- The Manatees (4-2) broke a 3-3 tie with a 10-run fifth. Richie Rivera went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Ethan Skender went 3-to-6 with four RBIs, a double and two triples. Andrew Dilaqua went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Riley Johnson went 2-for-2 with two doubles, and Kevin Buckley went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Garrett Hall went 3-for-5. The Manatee play host to the University of Tampa junior varsity team on Saturday.
