Local prep sports roundup | Bradenton Christian boys basketball team beats Braden River

Jake Lister scored 21 points to lead the visiting Bradenton Christian Panthers in a 50-33 boys basketball victory over the Braden River Pirates.

Ryan Leunk added 11 points, Alex Telfair chipped in 10, Justin Aracena added 14 rebounds, and Vincent Rehfeldt had 10 assists for Bradenton Christian (16-2).

The Pirates were led by Deoni Cason with 11 points and six steals, and Tyler Dyson added five points and 12 rebounds.

BAYSHORE 77, ARCADIA DESOTO 66 -- Dhysen Walls scored 20 points, Jaylen Pauley had 19, and Bonna Baker chipped in 13 points to lead the host Bruins (9-9) over the Bulldogs. In the JV game, Bayshore won 79-50.

Girls basketball

CARDINAL MOONEY 39, BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 29 -- Cali Gelston's 14 points on weren't enough for the Panthers, who lost to the host Cougars. Sophie Hebda led Cardinal Mooney with 11 points.

MANATEE 36, BAYSHORE 27 -- Bri Purrington scored 21 points to lead the host Hurricanes over the Bruins.

Boys soccer

SAINT STEPHEN'S 8, SARASOTA BOOKER 0 -- Antonio Colacci scored four goals, and Alex Virgilio had four assists in as the Falcons routed the visiting Tornadoes. John Boyd had two goals and an assist, Ben Whorf and Chase Thornton had goals, and Thornton also had an assist. Noah LaBelle contributed two assists.

LAKEWOOD RANCH 0, VENICE 0 -- Liam Bramley had 12 saves and registered his 10th shutout of the season as the host Mustangs settled for a draw with the Indians (12-2-3).

Girls soccer

CHARLOTTE 4, PALMETTO 2 -- Mireya Garcia and Allyiah Lazo scored goals for the host Tigers (2-11-1), who finished the season with a loss to the Tarpons.
