The first of back-to-back district tests was a smashing success as the Pirates proved they belong among the elite with a 30-20 victory over Venice.

There's no stopping Lorenz Allen as of late as he's rushed for more than 100 yards in four of the last five, including a career-high 213 in last week's blowout of Sarasota Riverview.

3. (3) Palmetto, 6-1, 30
The Tigers might be the sleeping giant in 7A-11,

A huge chance at a playoff push leaves the Seminoles needing a win over district unbeaten Hardee.

The Mustangs can play spoiler in the 7A-11 playoff race after Sarasota eliminated them last week.

2. (2) Saint Stephen's, 6-1, 40
With a No. 2 seed in the Sunshine State Athletic Conference tournament locked up, the Falcons play their only non-division game of the season.

3. (t-4) Cardinal Mooney, 2-5, 30
Despite having only two wins, the Cougars are playoff bound with a 2-0 district record.
This week: vs. Lakeland Victory Christian. 7 p.m.
4. (3) Bradenton Christian, 2-5, 20
The Panthers have piled up points lately, scoring at least 26 in each of their last three games, but have also surrendered at least 49 in four straight.

5. (t-4) Out-of-Door Academy, 2-5, 10
New starting quarterback Anthony Squitieri hit 200 yards passing for the second time against Tampa Carrollwood Day, something Gus Mahler only did once in four starts.
