Bruins top Tornadoes for first win of season
SARASOTA -- Jesus Urdaneta's 27-yard field goal as time expired delivered Bayshore High School its first football win of the season, a dramatic 17-14 triumph over host Booker on Friday.
Urdaneta's heroics came after a Bruins defensive stand preserved a tie game late in the fourth quarter.
A short Booker punt put Bayshore in business in Tornadoes territory, and the Bruins A'shawn Angell (21 carries, 65 yards) worked the ball inside the red zone to set up Urdaneta for the walkoff win.
Bayshore (1-4, 1-1) grabbed a quick 7-0 early in the first quarter when Yandy Rocamora ran the ball 68 yards to the end zone on a fake punt.
Booker (2-3, 0-2) took control from there and carried a 14-7 lead deep into the game, but the Bruins erased it with their first offensive touchdown of the season -- Ryan O'Neill's 1-yard rush -- with 4:32 left to play.
Bayshore will try and make it two straight next week at North Port.
