David Hu leads Saint Stephen's to boys golf win over Bradenton Christian, Manatee High

Hu leads Falcons to tri-match victory

David Hu shot a sparkling day-low round of 34 to pace host Saint Stephen's in a highly competitive boys golf tri-match victory over Bradenton Christian and Manatee High on Thursday at the IMG Academy Golf Club.

The Falcons shot a 2-under 142 as a team to easily outdistance the Panthers (159) and Hurricanes (169). Eric Meng and Justin Wynen each shot 35 for Saint Stephen's (3-4), while Denis Gomono shot a 38.

Bradenton Christian was paced by Landry Miller's 35, followed by Duncan Sikkema (39), Jack Knowles (42) and Harrison Fuller (43).

Robby Tingler carded a 41 to lead Manatee (4-8), while Jesse Lawson and Mo Wood each shot 42 and Richard Bennett shot a 44.

Girls golf

MANATEE 209, PALMETTO 230 -- Gabrielle Tomeo continued her low-score tear, helping the Hurricanes polish off the Tigers at Manatee County Golf Course.

Danielle Wolfe carded a 43 for the second-lowest score for Manatee (5-2).

Ashlynn Gardner shot a 51 to lead Palmetto.

Volleyball

BAYSHORE 3, ST. PETE LAKEWOOD 0 -- The host Bruins swept away the Spartans in a division match 25-11, 25-10, 25-16, led by Jasmine Youngthunder, who tallied 13 assists and an ace.

Alexus Norman also notched 13 kills for Bayshore (6-4, 3-1). Ashlyn Davis and Jojo Muldoon each had 7 kills and 2 aces.
