Local prep sports roundup for Tuesday, Sept. 29

AVON PARK -- The Lakewood Ranch girls golf team finished fifth out of 23 teams Monday with a total of 318 at the Crutchfield Hawkins Invitational at Highland Ridge golf course in Avon Park.

Sophomore Katie Roberts-Kroos led the Mustangs with a 75, followed by junior Theresa Morrissey (76), Natalie Robson (83) and Sophia Warren (84).

ELSEWHERE -- The visiting Bayshore Bruins volleyball team defeated the Bradenton Christian Panthers 3-1. The Bruins (5-4) won by scores of 25-21, 25-19, 27-29 and 25-16. Leading the Bruins were Alexus Norman (13 kills, three blocks), Ashlyn Davis (19 kills, five blocks) and JoJo Muldoon (11 blocks, four kills). .... In a junior varsity volleyball match, the Out-of-Door Academy Thunder fell in two sets to visiting Southwest Florida Christian Academy by scores of 17-25 and 20-25.
