Local roundup: Bradenton Christian boys basketball defeats Sarasota

AJ Schewe led three Bradenton Christian players in double figures with 32 points as the host Panthers defeated Sarasota 72-64 on Monday night.

JJ Benedict scored 13 points for BCS and Dylan Cotrone had 11.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Carrollwood Day 71, Braden River 66: The Pirates lost to the visiting Eagles for the second time this season, dropping their record to 5-2.

O’mariah Gordon led a balanced scoring attack for Braden River with 18 points. She was followed by Julia Rodriguez with 16 points and Cheyenne Stubbs with 15.

Tarrionna Gary led Carrollwood Day with a game-high 19 points.

Up next, Braden River travels to Manatee for a district game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
