Local roundup: Saint Stephen’s rolls, Southeast wins at buzzer in boys basketball
Three players scored in double figures Friday night as the host Saint Stephen’s Falcons clobbered Imagine School of North Port 78-23 in boys basketball.
Cam Vining led the Falcons with 14 points. Cade Westberry added 11 points and six assists, and Ty Barker had 10 points.
Also contributing in the win for Saint Stephen’s (2-0) were Jordan Edwards (nine points); Matthew Konkol (nine rebounds); and Demetrius Davis (six assists, five rebounds).
Dishop Jenkins led Imagine (0-4) with eight points.
Southeast 53, St. Pete Lakewood 51: Alex Taylor hit the game winner as time expired on an out-of-bounds play with .04 seconds on the clock. He paced the Seminoles with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Three players had nine points for the victorious Noles: Kevin Banks, Sam Washington and Kam’ron Green.
Jalen White led Lakewood with 16 points.
Southeast JV’s won 59-44.
Seffner Christian 66, Bradenton Christian 53: AJ Schewe scored 13 points, and Nick Swaagman added 10 points for the Panthers, who fell to the Crusaders.
Girls basketball
Saint Stephens 58, Imagine School of North Port 48: The host Falcons prevailed in a district matchup, improving their district record to 2-1 and 3-3 overall.
Top scorers for Saint Stephen’s were Claudia Sbaschnik (20 points), Sarah Steven (15) and LeNae Jones (11).
