Local roundup: Bradenton Christian racks up 93 points in win

AJ Schewe scored 25 points and added seven assists Monday as the host Bradenton Christian Panthers pounded Community Christian of Port Charlotte 93-38 in boys basketball.

Nick Swaagman and Cameron Rosier tallied 14 points each, Dayton Modderman had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and JJ Benedict added 11 points for the Panthers (3-1).

Saint Stephen’s 72, Sarasota Military Academy 29: The Falcons cruised to a road victory with three players in double figures.

Leading the offensive effort for Saint Stephen’s were Cam Vining (17 points), Ty Barker (15) and Cade Westberry (11 points, 4 assists). Ben Schnur contributed six rebounds.

Braden River 64, Bayshore 54: The Pirates (2-0) came back from a 12-2 deficit to start the game and finish with a victory over the Bruins (3-1).

Sophomore Amari Jones led the Pirates with 23 points and eight rebounds. James Boldin added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Lonnie Brown scored 10 points and was 6-for-8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. Drevian Mays scored all six of his points in the fourth quarter and was 4-for-4 from the line.

Three Bruins players finished in double figures: Jaylen Pauley (18), Dhysen Walls (15) and Bonna Baker 13.

Boys soccer

Saint Stephen's 5, Bradenton Christian 0: Ben Whorf and Noah LeBelle scored two goals apiece, and Jacob Whorf also scored as the Falcons (3-0-1) remained unbeaten. Chris Pennewill (two), Trevor Mulqueen and LaBelle had assists.

Girls soccer

Bradenton Christian 2, Imagine North Port 1: Maddy Allen scored two goals and Josie Smith made 10 saves to pace the Panthers.
